“Dysmorphic” by artist Alex Rudin is set to open at Sus Gallery located at 42 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck.

The opening reception will be held on April 1 at 6:30 p.m.

“Dysmorphic” comments on the inner complexities of a corporeal warped reality by confronting the societal phenomena of Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Everyday confrontations with beauty standards and idyllic body types have changed the way the female body is viewed from within one’s own perception and experience of being.

In an attempt to express the mentalities of what it’s like to have a dysmorphic disorder, this collection pieces together the puzzle of what it means to inhabit a feminine dysmorphic mind and challenges the rigid societal interpretations of accepted beauty.
