Fuel seeks to provide Fun in the Summer

The Paramount will present a special concert, Fun in the Summer Sun, featuring the band Fuel on Sunday, July 30 at 6 p.m.

Fuel formed in 1993 while playing the club circuit in and around Harrisburg, PA.

The band signed to Sony Records and in 1998 released their critically-lauded, debut album Sunburn, with the hit single, “Shimmer.”

Their second album, Something Like Human, took the band to a new level of stardom, hitting multi-platinum status driven by the singles “Innocent” and “Hemorrhage,” which remained at No. 1 for ten weeks.

In 2003, Fuel released their third record, Natural Selection, and found success again with the hit song, “Falls On Me.”

In 2014, they released Puppet Strings.

Catapulted by the first single — the driving, hypnotic “Soul To Preach To” — the album entered the Billboard rock charts at No. 1.

“Cold Summer” became their second hit single from the album and a staple on rock radio stations, cracking the top 20 throughout the summer and featuring a video that is a classic throwback to when rock videos were fun.

“Rock and roll is very much alive on this record,” says lead vocalist and guitarist Brett Scallions. “Fuel is fully reignited, and it feels like we are just getting started.”

Fuel will be joined by fellow bands, Alien Ant Farm, Marcy Playground and Dishwalla.

Since the formation of Alien Ant Farm in 1995, the quartet has enjoyed worldwide success.

Over the course of their four studio albums, cumulative sales have surpassed five million units, earning the band a Grammy Award nomination and four top 10 singles.

The band built a massive following on the road early in their career through high profile 2001 runs with Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Warped, and as the headliner on an MTV presented fall tour.

In 2002, their fame spread across the world, bringing Alien Ant Farm to major European festivals, Australia’s Big Day Out and a headline run in Japan.

The following year they returned to Europe with Metallica, and to this day the band continues to deliver to audiences worldwide.

Marcy Playground is an American alternative rock band consisting of John Wozniak on lead vocals and guitar, Dylan Keefe on bass, and Shlomi Lavie on drums.

The band is best known for their 1997 hit “Sex and Candy.”

A platinum selling, award-winning band with a career spanning nearly two decades and five albums, Dishwalla’s music helped to define the sound of a generation.

Their music is timeless, and the recurrent airplay of their 1996 hit song, “Counting Blue Cars,” on popular radio stations is a testament to this.

Touted by both fans and fellow musicians as one of the best live bands to come out of the 90s, Dishwalla is back, and now they have a story to tell.

The Paramount is located at 370 New York Ave. in Huntington.
