Midsummer Weekend at the Gardens and Seward Johnson Sculpture Exhibit

Enjoy the unique sights, fragrances and feel of the Gardens at a special time of day: twilight. Stroll the walled garden and listen to the cool sounds of live jazz on Friday night ($30/$27 member; advance tickets required). Saturday night is sure to be a wonderful time, with an evening of live music and dance performances by the critically acclaimed Lori Belilove and The Isadora Duncan Dance Company ($16 at gate/$14 members).  While at the Museum, be sure to catch the recently released sculpture exhibit by Seward Johnson — whose work has been turning heads for nearly 50 years — that will run through Sept. 4.

Nature Walk at the
Muttontown Preserve 

Sunday, June 25 at 10 a.m.

Comprising 550 acres of fields, woodlands, ponds and estate grounds, Muttontown is Nassau County’s largest nature preserve and one of the most beautiful settings on Long Island. This guided nature walk will take you on trails filled with local wildflowers, trees, birds, and historic structures, including the renovated Chelsea Estate.  The walk is $5 and begins at the Bill Paterson Nature Center on the preserve.

Summer Arts Festival 2017

The Huntington Summer Arts Festival presents a roster of award-winning artists in music, dance and theatre that includes the finest performing arts groups from Huntington and Long Island. This year’s first week of summer events include a performance of the musical “Madagascar” on June 27, the Huntington Community Band on June 28, the Huntington Men’s Chorus on June 29, Adam Ezra Group on June 30, New York Voices on July 1, and the North Shore Pops Concert Band on July 2.

Midsummer Night Dances

Thursday, June 29, 6-9:30 p.m. 

Love to dance in the warm evening air? Then head on out to the Vanderbilt Museum’s popular midsummer night dance series, held on most Thursday evenings through August 31. Each week’s dance begins with instruction in a different dance step — from foxtrot and rumba, to East Coast swing and salsa.  On opening night, the guest instructor, Alfred Peña of Rhythmology, will teach Bachata lessons before open dancing throughout the night begins.
