Christoffel is a visiting artist at the Great Neck Arts Center and a guest lecturer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

He was president of the Long Island Art Teachers Association and a teacher for 41 years in the Bellmore-Merrick School District. He was invited to be the artist-in-residence at LIU Post, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate art classes.

He works in a myriad of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking. His inspiration is the grand history of portraits from the Romans to the present.

His works include sculptures of Theodore Roosevelt’s horses and sketches and oil paintings of Abraham Lincoln. He has exhibited internationally and locally (Huntington Arts Council, Heckscher Museum), and presently has two sculptures included in the 911memorial.org collection.

“Christoffel has become one of Long Island’s most recognized historical artists and manages to combine both his passion for history and his talent as a representational painter. His paintings are historical stories, not just portraits. They represent our country at times of change and promise.” Newsday – 2010
