A special commemoration of the Holocaust is being planned for Yom HaShoah in the Holocaust Resource Center located on the campus of Temple Judea, “Beyond the Holocaust: Life and Legacy of Hannah Kroner.”

The inauguration of the exhibit is Sunday, April 23 at 3:00 p.m.

The exhibit will continue for several months.

The event is a history of a Holocaust survivor, Hannah Kroner, and her family and friends.

Kroner’s daughter, Evelyn Summer will be curating the exhibit, along with Irving Roth, Director of the Holocaust Resource Center.

A preliminary showing of the exhibit will be held on Friday evening, April 21 at 7:30 p.m., a preliminary to Shabbat services.

All are invited to attend.

Kroner kept a significant collection of writings and photographs describing her experiences, leaving Berlin in 1939 during the early days of the Nazis’ efforts to rid the country of Jews.

She was 19 years old at the time that she left.

She described in detail the hardships she and her family suffered and the “close calls” they experienced in their journey.

Through documents and photographs, Kroner left a very personal legacy of the history of her family and friends which will now be exhibited in the Holocaust Resource Center.

This event is open to the public and is free.

Refreshments will be served on the April 23 opening day.

Temple Judea is located at 333 Searingtown Road in Manhasset.
