The Royal Tea House in Great Neck Plaza celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, March 24.

The English-style tea house, a sister restaurant of Rose House in Flushing, Queens, is located at 1 Great Neck Road at the intersection with Middle Neck Road and offers a wide range of teas from around the globe.

Royal Tea House will also offer wine, beer and American-style cuisine. The restaurant launched a soft-opening on Feb. 15.

Royal Tea House is “a restaurant that represents quality, comfort, affordability and excellent hospitality,” Cynthia Yeah, a spokeswoman for Royal Tea House, said.

Yeah said the restaurant’s staple menu item will be the three-tier tea set that is decorated with sandwiches, scones and pastries.

The restaurant décor is meant to resemble a tranquil garden, with tiffany blue tables and dark, turquoise velvet furniture, Yeah said.

The walls are covered with floral wallpaper, and Yeah said each table will always be decorated with a fresh rose.

Robert Barbach of Barbach & Associates, the tea house’s architect and the Village of Great Neck’s building superintendent, said that he is happy the owners of Royal Tea House decided to invest in Great Neck.

There had been a hair salon in the location prior to Royal Tea House, but the storefront was empty for several years in between, Barbach said.

“It’s about as key a location you’re going to find as one drives in from the south to the north,” he said.

Yeah said she thinks this location will be great for parents and their children to come and enjoy tea, as well as host events such as birthdays and bridal showers.

The Tea House is currently accepting resumes and hiring waiters, kitchen staff, and hostesses.
