Over 1,000 people attended the School Community Association Fair at the Munsey Park schoolyard in Manhasset on Saturday, said Lisa Grygiel, the executive president of the School Community Association.

“It was an A-plus day,” Grygiel said. “The weather was fantastic. The sun decided to shine after a day of horrible rain.”

The 66th annual fair, which is the largest fundraiser held by the association each year, featured international cuisine, carnival booths and rides.

Manhasset school district Superintendent Charles Cardillo, school board President Regina Rule and principals from Munsey Park Elementary School, Shelter Rock Elementary School and Manhasset High School attended, Grygiel said.

Musical performances, which took place throughout the day, included jazz ensembles from Munsey Park Elementary School, Shelter Rock Elementary School and the high school, Grygiel said.

A string orchestra from the elementary schools and the middle school as well as a vocal jazz ensemble from the high school were also among the performers.

The Shelter Rock and Munsey Park dancers, a new addition in the last couple of years, also performed, Grygiel said.

Grygiel would not say how much money was raised at the event, though the event “pays for all of our programming,” she said.

Grygiel, who has lived in Manhasset for five years, is serving her second year as the executive president of the association. She has three children, all in the public schools, she said.
