The incumbents in East Williston and Mineola coasted to landslide victories as expected in the uncontested races, and newcomer James Iannone won a trustee seat with 73 votes.

East Williston Mayor David Tanner and Trustee Bonnie Parente were re-elected with 64 votes and 71 votes, respectively.

But Parente also came in third in the mayoral race with three write-in votes, bringing her total to 74 combined between the two positions. John Azzara, an active community member and frequent contributor to local newspapers in letters to the editor, received six write-in votes for mayor.

James Iannone, an attorney running for the trustee seat of Caroline DeBenedittis who decided not to seek re-election, received 73 votes.

In Mineola, Mayor Scott Strauss and Trustees George Durham and Dennis Walsh were all re-elected, though the Williston Times is waiting for official vote totals.

The three were running unopposed in a joint campaign as members of the village’s New Line Party.
