Arlo Guthrie to play Landmark on May 10

The Island Now

Arlo Guthrie, known to generations as a prolific songwriter, social commentator, master storyteller, actor and activist, will be making a stop in Port Washington this spring when he performs at Landmark on Main Street on Tuesday, May 10.

Guthrie’s iconic “Alice’s Restaurant:, the more than 18-minute account of actual events that took place in Stockbridge around Thanksgiving 1966, became a platinum selling record (1967) and full-length motion picture (1969).

Due to its length, he has only added the complete Alice’s Restaurant Massacree to his touring menu on the 10-year anniversaries.

With 2016 marking the 50th Anniversary of the lengthiest hit single in music history, Guthrie will once again be performing it live, backed by Terry Hall (drums), Bobby Sweet (guitar, vocals), Darren Todd (bass), and his son, Abe Guthrie (keyboards).

Each show includes a light show created specifically for this tour by 44 Designs, Inc., along with previously unseen images from the Guthrie archives. More than 75,000 photos have recently been digitized, and selections will be projected during the evening.

General public sales begin Friday, Jan. 8, at 12 p.m. through Landmark’s Box Office, 516-767-6444 or online at www.landmarkonmainstreet.org. Tickets are: Premium $107 (Friends $102), Select $92 (Friends $82), Standard $82 (Friends $77).

Showtime is 8 p.m.
