Arrest in Great Neck burglary

A Kew Gardens resident was arrested May 20 in the Village of Lake Success for allegedly burglarizing a building he was paid to clean, according to detectives from the Nassau County Police Department.

Peter Rodriquez, 42, is employed by Ashland Maintenance as a cleaner for an office building at 2800 Marcus Avenue in the Village of Lake Success, according to police.

On April 9 at 12:30 p.m., Rodriquez allegedly entered the building without authorization and forced open a lock box, causing damage to the interior door, and removed an unspecified amount of money.

An investigation revealed DNA evidence left at the scene, according to police.

At the time of his arrest, Rodriquez was allegedly in possession of a pill believed to be oxycodone, for which he did not have a legal container.

He was charged with 3rd degree burglary, 4th degree grand larceny, 4th degree criminal mischief, possession of burglar’s tools, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

He was arraigned on May 21 and faces up to seven years in prison.
