Art League to feature graphic designer

The Island Now

Ilene Palant, an award-winning graphic designer, artist and art educator who moved from an exploration of printmaking to photography and sculpture, will have her work displayed at the Art League of Long Island’s Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery at b.j. spoke gallery in Huntington during the month of May.

An artist’s reception will be held Saturday, May 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. The gallery is located at 299 Main St., Huntington.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the textures and flows of nature, so when I approach a piece of stone I look at its color, veining and original form and try to find a connection,” Palant said. “I attempt to symbolize the concepts and emotions I feel through my creation of biomorphic forms that beckon to be touched and stroked. Through this, I hope the viewer can feel what I feel or make his or her own unique and personal connection.”

Palant is represented in collections nationwide; exhibiting regularly at the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery, where she exhibits and offers sculpture classes and also is included in various other venues and juried shows throughout the region. Look for her much anticipated solo show in May at the B. J. Spoke Gallery and in July at the Walt Whitman Birthplace Gallery in Melville.
