Bass best qualified

The Island Now

It is with pleasure that I whole-heartedly endorse Jeffrey Bass for North Hempstead Town Council representing the 4th Council District.

Jeff is a consummate professional whose high ethical standards and deep business and government experience will make him a perfect Councilman. A three-time elected trustee of the Village of Great Neck, Jeff authored important housing legislation and at the request of the mayor, served as head of the village’s Storm Water Task Force. In this capacity, Jeff developed the framework for advancing a much needed storm water improvement project.

Prior to becoming trustee, Jeffrey served a total of seven years on the village’s Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals where he won the respect from residents and developers alike because of his fair and balanced approach.

He was principal-in-charge of the advisory services practice of one of the country’s most prestigious regional accounting firms.

He served in the Koch Administration, where he was a creative force behind a public works program that saved New York City over $100 million in its first year of implementation. He received compliments from former President Clinton for his work as an elected delegate (elected by his business peers from Long Island) to a White House Conference on Small Business.

Locally, Jeffrey is a founder of the Great Neck Arts Center and a founding member of the Great Neck Business Circle. He also served as executive vice president of the Great Neck United Community Fund and is a member of the Manhasset Bay Protection Committee. He is a member of the Great Neck Village Officials Association and the Nassau County Village Officials Association.

Finally, Jeff is a gentleman who rises above the fray to always do what’s right. I can think of no one who would make a better North Hempstead town councilman than Jeff. I urge you to vote for him.

George Maragos

Nassau County Comptroller
