Battery-powered cars an Obama policy failure

The Island Now

What a campaign.  What a system. What a diversion.

It’s OK for:

The DNC  to say that Romney “killed” grandma by pushing her over the cliff and Harry Reid to say on the floor of the Senate that Romney is a “crook” for not paying his own taxes. But it is a crime”or Romney to use the word “folder.”  What a  stretch.  What  perfect timing to hide what really happened this week. But first let’s backtrack .

This is how the Obama administration operates. First they find an issue, try and convince all of us that it is in our best interest to support it, condemn and vilify anyone who dares to oppose or even question it, and finally spend whatever it takes and wait as long as necessary to carry it out.

What could be a better example of this unilateral technique is the battery-powered, electric automobile. According to the  Democrats:

a) How can you ever question man-made global warming?

b) How can you say anything good about oil and coal?

c) How can you not spend trillions of taxpayer-dollars to create such a noble enterprise as a battery-run car?

According to my progressive friends. ( yes, I  do have quite a number of them ) it’s not only heresy for me to question this issue,  but it’s immoral and ignorant as well. They keep telling me that they always respect and listen to their opposition! Yea, right .

Unfortunately for all of us, the battery-powered auto industry is falling apart, right before our eyes. This week, the electric-car, battery manufacturer filed for bankruptcy. But don’t worry all you save-the -planet “ folks out there, your Campaigner-in Chief assured us last week that “whenever the government creates  a new worthwhile venture, there are bound to be a few failures.” Unfortunately for us, our current president has a selective memory. He conveniently has forgotten the following:

1- A123 Systems had receive $249.1 million dollars of Federal government grants, and $358 million dollars of start-up funding before they filed for bankruptcy.

2-  Battery maker Enerdel Corp received $118.5 million dollars of Federal grants before it’s parent company filed for bankruptcy in June.

3-  LG Chemical Corp in Michigan, received  $151.4 million dollars from Obama’s  program  and is the lucky battery maker for the Chevrolet Volt, has placed many of it’s workers on furloughs due to slow demand.

4- Dow-Kokam, also in Michigan, maker of auto-battery packs, after receiving $161 million dollars from us, has decided to begin full production  later this year. And,

5-Solyndra LLC , the failed solar-panel manufacturer dissolved it’s assets and filed for bankruptcy, also after receiving millions of dollars of our tax payer money.

Now do you understand why most Americans don’t trust the government to pick and choose winners and losers?

Now do you now see why the government doesn’t have the knowledge, experience or ability to run most private businesses?

By the way, did you also hear this week, that Newsweek, another Obama-supporting magazine is going o completely online?

The statistics  that I used today appeared in the newspaper that is number one in circulation and respect.  No, not the NY Times. It’s The Wall Street Journal.
