Bethpage Air Show announces attractions

The state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced the headliners for the 2016 Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach will feature popular highflying acts such as the United States Navy Blue Angels, the United State Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds, and the Breitling Performance Jet Team. 

The 13th annual airshow,  will take place on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29.

“We are thrilled at another show stopping line-up for the 2016 Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach,” said state Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. “Thanks to Gov. Cuomo’s historic commitment into state parks we continue to revitalize our parks and attract the very best entertainment which draws tens of millions each year.”

“Over 325,000 fans enjoyed the breathtaking headline performance at the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach last year,” said Linda Armyn, senior vice president, Bethpage Federal Credit Union.  “This year, we are more than thrilled to welcome back the U.S. Navy Blue Angels to Long Island and amaze the crowds once again.”

The 2015 Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach drew more than 325,000 spectators over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. This year the 2016 Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach will feature:

United States Navy Blue Angels

This will be the legendary squadron’s seventh appearance at the Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach. Each performance the Blue Angels stunningly display the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corp. 2016 will feature the 70th anniversary of the Blue Angels. 

United States Army Golden Parachute Team

The Army Golden Parachute, in their 12th year performing at the airshow, are a nearly 100 member parachute team that showcase precision and skillful jumps from thousands of feet in the sky. The Golden Knights have performed in all 50 states, 48 countries and have broken more than 345 world records.

Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds

The Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds is comprised of actively serving members of the Canadian Air Force and have been thrilling audiences for years. The Snowbirds craft their act to represent the skill and teamwork inherent in each member of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Breitling Performance Jet Team

The world’s largest professional civilian flight team will display their passion for aerobatics for the second season at the Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach. With sheer precision the Breitling Performance Jet Team has been known to fly within three meters of each other at speeds of over 700 km/h.

Additional civilian performers will be added to the line-up as the Bethpage Airshow at Jones Beach draws closer.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation oversee 180 state parks and 35 historic sites, which are visited by 62 million people annually. A recent study found that New York State Parks generates $1.9 billion in economic activity annually and supports 20,000 jobs.
