Body of unidentified man found in Little Neck Bay

Nassau County homicide detectives launched an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found last week in Little Neck Bay near a Village of Saddle Rock residence.

The body of the unidentified man “in his late 40s or early 50s” was seen floating in the water “near the rear dock area” of a Bayport Lane North residence by an unnamed woman at about 1:50 p.m. last Friday, a county police spokesman said.

The man is being described as white, 5-foot-11, 177-pounds with graying hair and brown eyes, police said.

When his body was found, police said the man was wearing a white collared golf shirt with the word “collegiate” and two crossed tennis rackets embroidered in blue, along with blue Adidas sweatpants.

Homicide detectives are still investigation the cause of the man’s death, police said.

Although police declined to provide any further information about the investigation, the department spokesman said the body found last Friday was not the man who fell off the Throggs Neck Bridge on March 30.

The body of the Islandia-based painting company worker has yet to be found after a lengthy search following his disappearance.
