Bond benefits outweigh cost

The Island Now

There have been so many false allegations and distortions of the truth concerning the future of our library it calls for a response.

The library will not be closed for 2.6 years. The construction company’s estimate is 18-24 months. Udall’s Pond will be preserved and be in better shape. The oil run off from the parking lot to the pond will be eliminated.

Most important the plan finally chosen will cost the taxpayer $80 per year for a $1 million home. Not some astronomical figure that has been tossed around.

I am a senior citizen that enjoys the monthly book reviews, the Sunday concerts, the shows that feature our local artists and photographers. But let’s think about our young library members and how many ways the library enhances their lives. They need a quiet study/reading room. We need a section for our teens as well as our expanding levels program The little ones need a larger children’s section for a growing population. The expansion of our library will also enhance and be reflected in the value of your real estate.

Our library is a great asset to young and old alike Let’s support our library for our community and vote yes on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
