Bristal Assisted Living named among nation’s best

A recent national award from a review website provides further support for the Bristal Assisted Living facilities’ reputation for high-quality senior care.

Caring.com, a website that collects reviews of health care services and facilities for seniors, named five Bristal homes in Nassau County — including the North Hills location — as “Caring Stars” of 2016.

“We strive daily to provide high-quality care for our residents, and this award helps validate our delivery on that promise,” said Kimberly Bent, executive director of Bristal’s North Hills facility, in a statement.

The Bristal at North Hills, located at 99 South Service Road, was one of 38 assisted living facilities in the state that made Caring.com’s list.

It was also named to the 2013 and 2015 Caring Star lists.

Since the facility has now won the recognition three times, it qualifies as a “Caring Super Star.”

To make it on Caring.com’s list, now in its fifth year, an assisted living facility must have received at least three reviews on the site between Dec. 1, 2014 and Sept. 30, 2015. At least one of those three must give a rating of five out of five stars.

The facility’s overall rating must be no lower than four out of five stars, and it can’t have any “unresolved” negative reviews, according to Caring.com’s criteria.

The Bristal at North Hills carries an overall rating of four-and-a-half stars. Reviews from friends or relatives of Bristal residents and visitors to the North Hills facility often noted the staff’s care and attention to the senior residents, as well as the different activities the home offers.

“We all thought this transition would be a challenge for (my father), and yet, from the very beginning of our experience with the place and the staff, it is so affirming, reassuring and comforting to see him acclimated, relaxed and happy in his new environs,” one reviewer, Janet F., wrote in September.

Caring.com says its Caring Stars list helps people seeking care narrow down their choices as more of them rely on the Internet for information about facilities and resources rather than in-person recommendations from doctors.

In addition to the Caring.com list, The Bristal at North Hills was also named to SeniorAdvisor.com’s 2015 list of the best senior homes in the country.

Bristal facilities in East Meadow, Lynbrook, Massapequa and North Woodmere also won the award this year, as did the East Northport, Lake Grove and Sayville homes in Suffolk County.

East Northport has also won twice before, making it a Caring Super Star this year.

This is the Lynbrook facility’s fourth Caring Star award and its second year as a Caring Super Star.
