The Brotherhood of The Community Synagogue welcomes 92 Y LIVE’s pre-recorded broadcast of “The Return of the Violin”: Screening and Discussion with Joshua Bell, Sigmund Rolat and Budd Mishkin on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at The Community Synagogue at 160 Middle Neck Road in Port Washington.

Following the broadcast discussion, the film, “The Return of the Violin,” will be shown in its entirety.

“The Return of the Violin” chronicles the odyssey of a 301-year-old Stradivarius, now played by Joshua Bell. The story is told through the eyes of holocaust survivor Sigmund Rolat who is responsible for the film.

The movie reveals the violin’s relationship to Polish violinist Bronislaw Huberman, a legendary humanitarian who saved Europe’s premiere Jewish musicians by forming the Palestine Orchestra.

Following the film, Joshua Bell and Sigmund Rolat discuss this remarkable instrument’s journey. Desserts, coffee and tea will be served.

Individual tickets are $15 each and can be purchased on The Community Synagogue website at http://www.commsyn.org/programs/92y-lecture-series, or by email at btobin@optonline.net or call the Synagogue’s 92nd St Y order line (516) 883-3144, ext. 390 and leave your name, phone number and the number of tickets.
