Brownie troop help less fortunate enjoy Halloween

The Island Now

Brownie Troop 1712 just completed a Halloween Costume Drive in Hampton Street and Meadow Drive elementary schools. The Costume Drive was a way to reach out to families with children who needed a costume.

People could either donate gently used costumes or stop by the nurse’s office at either school to pick out a free costume. There were more than 15 families who took advantage of this opportunity.

The girls learned about the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low, who had wanted every girl to be able to participate in Girl Scouting. They also celebrated her birthday, which was Oct. 31.
