The Great Neck/North Shore Cable Commission will be holding a public meeting to discuss an agreement it has reached with Cablevision.

Village of Great Neck Mayor Ralph Kreitzman announced the meeting as part of the board of trustee’s meeting on Tuesday at Village Hall.

“The Great Neck/North Shore cable commission has finally come to an agreement with Cablevision that they want to recommend to us,” Kreitzman said. “Because it’s a franchise agreement we need to have a public hearing. That’s what this is all about.”

The public hearing will be held on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at Great Neck South Middle School.

Kreitzman said the new agreement with Cablevision will coincide with the commission’s current contract with Verizon, which has been in effect for more than two years.

The Great Neck/North Shore Cable Commission represents 14 local communities with the purpose of negotiating, facilitating and supervising agreements with cable service providers.

“That’s a public hearing so everyone will be given an opportunity to speak, ask questions and they’ll have a presentation,” Kreitzman said.
