On the final Saturday of the pre-travel spring season, the NHP Cat Pak faced Long Beach with first place on the line.

With a win the Cat Pak would secure first place overall in their first season in the major’s division. The Cat Pak would not disappoint.

With Nicole Caneda in goal and a defense led by Jackie Jara, Jenna Neu and Isabella Bigeni the Cat Pak locked down their end of the field in the first half, keeping Long Beach from even attempting a shot on goal.

Offensively, the Blue Angels controlled the game. Lily Becker and Maria Poulus controlled the midfield and pressured Long Beach early. Forwards Mary Langan and Kaitriona Smith attacked and a few minutes into the game, Langan took advantage and scored to put the Cat Pak up 1-0.

Great goalkeeping by Long Beach, saving shot after shot, kept it 1-0 Cat Pak going into halftime.

The second half started the same way the first ended with the Cat Pak pressuring and controlling the game.

Forwards Sofia Quijada and Sara Aranov continued the attack and a few minutes later, Langan once again, scored to put the Cat Pak up 2-0.

The defense, led in the second half by Amanda Garcia and Kaitlin Sheehan, shut down Long Beach and kept them from even a single shot on goal for the game.

The game ended in a 2-0 victory and a 1st place finish for the NHP Cat Pak.

It was truly an amazing season with the Cat Pak going 7-0-1 to win their first major’s division.

Coaches Tommy Slaski, Javier Caneda and Anthony Garcia would like to thank their Cat Pak for a great season.

They are very proud of how their girls competed every single week. Never giving up and always playing their hearts out. What a great season and what a great team!
