Cohen’s GN art center support sets example

The Island Now

Marion Gerrick Cohen was a longtime resident of Great Neck and very involved in supporting the arts and the Great Neck Arts Center until she moved to Florida.

She was alarmed to read that certain Great Neck communities ended their support of the Arts Center. She wrote to express that alarm, but also to express her belief in the future of the Great Neck Arts Center. Her note was much appreciated as a vote of support for this longtime institution in Great Neck. With her permission, following is a portion of the letter she sent me:

“I am presently in Fla., and Blanche Hermele has sent me the information about what has been going on in the Arts Center. I have enclosed a check and hope that it helps. People don’t seem to realize how important the arts are. You have done a wonderful job all these years, and I am honored to know that my Ballet Shoes are hanging there. I wish you good luck, and hope that you will be in Great Neck “forever and a day.”

Please join Marion in supporting a valuable asset in the Great Neck community–the Great Neck Arts Center—any way you can. Should you want to discuss your assistance, please contact me or our associate director, Caroline Sorokoff, at 829-2570.
