“Some of my best memories growing up were of CYO basketball and I welcome the opportunity to continue a great program for today’s youth” Solosky said.

Corpus Christi will continue their very successful children’s basketball clinic beginning Dec. 6 and running for eight consecutive Saturdays. The clinic, for boys and girls in kindergarten through the second grade, emphasizes basketball fundamentals as well as fun.

The Kindergarten, first and second grade program is a clinic and teams are not formed.

“The clinic is designed to introduce boys and girls to the great game of basketball” Solosky said.

Using volunteers, older CYO players as well as “guest” coaches, the focus is on fun and developing the skills necessary to play basketball. The program uses smaller baskets and stations of different foundation skills & drills.

Corpus Christi will also being sponsoring boys and girls teams in the third through 12th grades. These teams play competitive basketball against other parishes throughout Nassau County. Practices are held once a week with a game over the weekend.

“The league play is a lot of fun and really brings out the completive spirit in many of our players” Solosky said. “It is a great way to play sports in a low pressure environment.”

Girls basketball begins in late August and boys basketball begins in October.
