County exec candidates to debate at Wheatley School

The Island Now

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and challenger Tom Suozzi will face off in a public debate on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The debate is sponsored by the Nassau County Village Officials Association, which represents Nassau County’s 64 incorporated villages with 450,000 residents – approximately one-third the county population.

“The decisions made at the county level directly impact villages. That is why this election to determine who will serve as county executive for the next four years is critical for our residents,” said David E. Tanner, mayor of the Village of East Williston and NCVOA president. “This forum will feature a discussion of issues important to villages. We want to know how the candidates view village government and how they intend to work with mayors and trustees during the next four years.”

The debate will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wheatley School, 8 Bacon Road in the Village of Old Westbury.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is first come, first served.
