Doing Thanksgiving dinner like it’s 1863

The Island Now

The annual “1863 Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration” at Old Bethpage Village Restoration will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors to Old Bethpage Village, the re-created mid-19th Century village, will be able to enjoy the sights and aromas of an old-fashioned Thanksgiving including decorated pumpkin pies baked in a beehive oven, and turkey roasted over an open fire.  In addition, each afternoon, Traditional Fiddle music will be played, and children’s stories will be read several times each day.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration provides visitors with a unique and wonderful opportunity to step back in time and experience life in a recreated mid-19th Century American village set on more than 200 acres.  The hours of operation at Old Bethpage Village Restoration are: Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  Entrance fees are: $10 for adults, $7 for children (5 – 12), seniors and volunteer firefighters.  Old Bethpage Village Restoration is located at 1303 Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage (Exit 48 of the Long Island Expressway).
