The Port Washington Lions Club is proud to present their first Doo Wop Benefit Concert for Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults on Saturday, May 16 at 8 p.m. Legendary stars Jay and the Americans and

The Chiffons are scheduled to perform.

Jay and The Americans’ first recording was Tonight (from the musical West Side Story); but their breakout hit song was She Cried. The group’s next chart hit was Only In America, followed by top-ten hits Come A Little Bit Closer, Cara Mia, and This Magic Moment.

The Chiffons were one of the top girl groups of the early 1960s. With their trademark tight harmonies, high-stepping confidence and the hit machine of Goffin and King writing songs such as ‘One Fine Day,’ The Chiffons made music that helped define the girl group sound of the era.
