A 98-year-old Philadelphia, Pa., man was killed early Tuesday morning in a car crash in Roslyn Heights after his car was struck by a dump truck, police said.

Frank Winfrey, 98, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet southbound on Roslyn Road at 5:40 a.m. when his car collided with a dump truck traveling westbound on Powerhouse Road at Roslyn Road that then struck a utility pole and caused power outages in the area, police said.

Police said Winfrey was then taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:14 a.m.

The 39-year-old dump truck’s driver and 43-year-old male passenger, who were not identified further by police, were also taken to a local hospital for the treatment of minor injuries, police said.

Police said both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks. An investigation into the accident by the Nassau County Police’s Homicide Squad is ongoing.
