Ed board trustees file re-election bids

Two members of the Roslyn board of education will be running unopposed for re-election this May, school district officials said.

Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy and Clifford Saffron, who served as the board’s president and vice president during the 2013-14 school year, were the only people to file petitions in advance of Monday’s deadline to have their names placed on the ballot on May 20, District Clerk Nancy Carney Jones said, though other candidates may still be elected to the board on a write-in ballot. Efforts to reach Ben-Levy or Saffron were unavailing.

Ben-Levy was first elected to the board in 2005 and has served four full terms. Prior to the 2009-10 school year, she was elected as the board’s president.

Saffron was first elected to the board in 2004. He has served five terms on the board.
