Eddy Money honors vets at county park

The Island Now

I would like to share this with your readers. I just attended a concert at Eisenhower Park.

I got to see Eddy Money perform at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater on Sunday Sept. 30, with my wife Eva and our good friends Dave and Marion. It started out with pouring rain and many people had left except for us and other die-hard rock concert fans and I am glad we didn’t leave. After a few songs the rain stopped to a drizzle. Then the sun started to shine.

Then something unexpected, Eddy Money said the next song is dedicated not  to us nor to his band but to all of our veterans and especically to all those who gave their lives in Afganistan. We have now lost thousands over there with no end in sight. So his song really hit home.

The song went like this I recall. “One more son is coming home, hero coming home to heaven at twilights early dawn.”

This I find very sad for a nation to lose so many good men and women. I am told. It is time to bring our brave men and women home. For too many tears have cried.

Eddy Money, thanks for the good tunes and for the reminder what our veterans have given for our nation.
