The Foundation for Roslyn’s Educational Advancement and Development will be hosting its second fundraising event, the READ Golf and Tennis Invitational, on Thursday, July 11.
The event is being held at the Tam O’Shanter Club in Brookville. READ is hosting the event to raise money for the Roslyn School District and will honor Joseph Dragone, assistant superintendent of business.
“After a very successful inaugural family event last fall which raised over $20,000 for Roslyn schools, we are excited to invite the Roslyn community to participate in the Golf and Tennis Invitational this summer,” said Jason Garmise, president of READ. “It will be a great day of fun and fundraising with something for everyone. In addition, we are thrilled to be honoring assistant superintendent of business Joseph Dragone, who has been an instrumental part of our district since 2006, helping to restore confidence in the school budget process and fiscal integrity,” added Garmise.
Dragone is also instantly recognizable as the voice behind all the district-wide “robo” calls.
In addition to golf and tennis with various on-course/court contests, the event will feature Mah Jongg and card games, a relaxing afternoon at the pool, cocktails, dinner and an awards ceremony.
A special highlight of the event will be a silent auction, featuring items such as a full season of court time at Robbie Wagner, an in-home wine tasting experience for 12 people, an opportunity to go to the CBS NFL Today Pregame Show and meet Dan Marino, a 50 inch Toshiba LED TV, and 6 amazing Caribbean trips. In addition, there will be a raffle to win a beautiful leather Hermes “Garden Party” handbag
All net proceeds at this event will be distributed to the Roslyn Public Schools for various educational programs and capital projects not covered in the school district budget.
