A former employee of the Pinkberry frozen yogurt shop on Middle Neck Road may soon find himself in the cooler.

Robert Cosme, 22, of Rockville Center turned himself in to Nassau County Police on Thursday, after allegedly stealing money from the Great Neck Pinkberry’s safe one month ago.

Cosme, who police said was fired from his shift manager job at Pinkberry three weeks before the theft, allegedly entered the store shortly after 1:00 a.m. on June 13 using a key he had failed to return after his termination. He then allegedly took an undetermined amount of cash from the store’s safe before fleeing the scene.

The store’s owner Andreas, who asked that his last name not be used, said investigators had requested that he not discuss details of the ongoing case but praised police for their “very helpful” response to the incident.

“The police department has been very professional,” Andreas said. “I appreciate it. We’re going to let them do their work and respect the process.”

Cosme, who is charged with one felony count of burglary in the third degree, was arraigned Friday at 1st District Court in Hempstead.
