The Village of Lake Success appointed a new village administrator Wednesday Nov. 14 following the retirement of long-time administrator Carol Pogrell.

Former New Hyde Park clerk-treasurer Patrick Farrell of Garden City Park took over the post.

Farrell, who grew up in New Hyde Park and Port Washington, served for two years as administrator-treasurer in the Floral Park and, prior to that position, worked for almost eight years in New Hyde Park.

“We are very pleased that we could attract such an accomplished individual as Mr. Farrell and we look forward to working with him for many years to come,” said Village of Lake Success Mayor Ronald Cooper in a statement. “We will sorely miss Carol Pogrell, who served our village with distinction for the past 15 years, and wish her well in her retirement.”

Farrell said he was pleased to have the chance to work for the village.

“The Village of Lake Success is a very unique community and opportunity,” he said. “I’m here to work for the people.”

While Farrell has dedicated years of his professional life to municipal service, he also has another calling: band-leading troubadour.

Farrell, a piano-playing singer-songwriter and Billy Joel tribute artist, has recorded with Billy Joel’s saxophonist Richie Cannata and released a solo album.

Farrell graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a degree in business administration. He also holds credentials as a registered and certified municipal clerk from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor relations.
