The New Hyde Park Girls U10 Firecats amassed 15 goals in four games to make the finals in the championship division in the Lincoln Page Memorial Day Tournament.

The girls fought the heat and some tough competition over the weekend facing teams from across long island.

In game one the Firecats started strong, defeating HBC Mia Intense 2000 by a score of 6-1.

Emily Rose led the offense scoring four goals, with Madeline Slaski and Irene Tsahas scoring one each.

Assists were credited to Stephanie Zovich, Marina Pappas and Joanna Merceri. Marina Pappas and Logan Ward split the goalkeeper duties allowing only one goal, while Lauren Wasserman, Jasmine Kamdar and Paulina Valentine supplied the defense.

The offense in game two was again spear headed by Emily Rose who scored three out of the four total goals. Kaylee Welsh scored the fourth goal and Logan ward was credited with two assists.

Goal keeping duties were shared by Jillian Cooper, Joanna Mauceri and Paulina Valentine, who only allowed two goals, as the girls defeated the East Islip Fury 4-2.

On Sunday the Firecats continued their hot streak against the Syosset Sol in the heat of the noon sun.

Logan Ward started the scoring early with a quick goal in the opening minutes. Jillian Cooper pushed the ball passed the goalkeeper for score number two off a pass from Marina Pappas, making the score 2-0 at the half.

The third goal was a rebound off a Syosset defender after a shot from Logan Ward, and goal four was a perfect strike by Emily Rose off a pass from Irene Tsahas.

Outstanding defense was provided by Lauren Wasserman, Stephanie Zovich, Jasmine Kamdar and Paulina Valentine.

Emily Rose, Marina Pappas and Lauren Wasserman combined to deliver shutout goalkeeping.

The girls finished first in their bracket in the championship division with three wins and 28 total points, taking them to the finals Sunday afternoon.

After a hard fought battle the Firecats fell to Massapequa by a score of 1-0 taking second place in the tournament overall.

It was an outstanding weekend of soccer and the girls and their coaches should be proud.
