Grooved pavement markings are expected to be installed within the next week at a pedestrian pathway under construction within the Village of Flower Hill that would connect to another walkway being built by the Village of Plandome Manor, Flower Hill officials said Tuesday.
Village highway superintendent Scott Hislop said the Westbury contractor Stasi Brothers Asphalt would determine by the end of the week when the installation of the markings, also known as rumble strips, would begin.
Once the markings are made, Hislop said, the pathway could be painted over and signage could be installed.
The pathway would lead into the village’s park and connect to another walkway being prepared for construction by the Village of Plandome Manor along Manhasset Woods Road and Stonytown Road.
Village administrator Ronnie Shatzkamer said Flower Hill is considering entering into an intermunicipal agreement with Plandome Manor to work on a piece of Manhasset Woods Road that borders the two villages.
Hislop said the village is planning a handicap-accessible ramp to the pathway near the village’s park that would be walled off with a bicycle rack.

• The village board approved a resolution allowing the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer to use its roads for its annual 5K run on Oct. 25.
• Trustees set an Oct. 5 public hearing to amend the requirements for membership onto its architectural review committee.
