Froggies compete in Nassau championships

The Nassau County Swim Municipality Division III Conference took place at Eisenhower Park on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 7 to 11:30 a.m. with 35 of the 60 plus Great Neck Park District Froggies swimmers participating. 

To qualify, the swimmers had to be rated in the highest percentile of their age category throughout the season. The Great Neck Froggies placed second at this end-of-season championship.

Team members winning first place awards are:

(Ages 13+) Casey Poon, 100 Freestyle; Angeline Lei, 100 Backstroke; Logan Hou,100 Breaststroke; Caitlin Yam, Girls 100 Breaststroke

(Ages 11-12) Kyle Pinzon, 100 Freestyle; Isabelle Hou, 50 Butterfly

(Ages 8 and under) Erin Wong, 25 Butterfly, 

The Senior Boys 200 Freestyle Relay team of Alex Sum, Casey Poon, Wellington Chen and Chris Lei, also finished in first place.

After the meet, the team reassembled at Parkwood Pool for their end-of-season celebration. 

All of the Froggies received awards for their participation with some receiving MVP awards, as well. 

After pizza and cake, the team took a swim together in the main pool. 

Coaches Bethany Porras and Jen Lobodzic couldn’t be prouder of the work the swimmers put into the Froggies team this summer.
