G.N. temple to host ‘Songs from the heart’

The fourth season of Stephen C. Widom Cultural Arts at Emanuel continues on Tuesday, April 12, at 2 p.m., when Patti Dunham and Gary Haberman offer “Songs From The Heart.” 

Dunham is a versatile singer, who has performed nationwide for 25 years.  She has been soloist with The Philip Glass Ensemble, Midsummer Nights Swing at Lincoln Center, Midday Jazz at St. Peter’s, Tilles Center Second Stage and many area jazz clubs.  

Dunham has recorded more than 100 children’s songs for various educational publishers including Disney World Music. As a member of The New York Choral Artists, she sings regularly with The New York Philharmonic in Live from Lincoln Center and with artists such as Paul McCartney, Bjork, Steven Sondheim and Mark Morris Dance Company. 

Haberman is active not only as a pianist, but as a composer, arranger, orchestrator and producer. Together with Dunham, he performs and sings in a unique jazz duo format. 

Haberman’s film and video composing and producing credits include two NBC movie specials, several independent movie projects, as well as a multitude of mini documentaries, biographical sketches, animated featurettes, pictorial soundscapes, and music videos. 

As an accomplished pianist and nationally acclaimed synthesist, he has performed with Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli, Vic Damone, Diahann Caroll and Sammy Davis Jr. He performed on Liza Minelli’s HBO special presentation Liza Minelli Live from London and has appeared on video with legendary jazz vocalist Jon Hendricks. He is currently principal conductor and founder of The New Jersey Holiday Festival Orchestra.
