GN ed board to use new online pay system

The Great Neck Board of Education at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday unanimously voted to use a new online program to collect fees from school district parents through its website.

The school district will now use RevTrak, a program that accepts online credit card payments from parents for fees, such as PSAT and AP test enrollment, through the school district’s campus parent portal website.

The school district had been using a payment module on its campus parent portal website since 2011 to collect payments, but Great Neck Assistant Superintendent for Business Jonathan Powell said RevTrak would be an easier program for school officials to work with.

“It’s a better program and it has a lot more convenient features for us to work with,” Powell said. “RevTrak was more of a convenience thing.”

School officials said the $3,600 installation cost of the program will be paid for out of the district’s 2014-15 budget.  Those using RevTrak will pay a 3.5-percent “convenience charge” for online transactions, according to school officials.

Powell, responding to a question from a parent, said the district would still allow online users to use PayPal to pay for school fees.
