GN hotel firm hires McSherry as COO

M&R Hotel Management, a Great Neck-based firm that operates a growing number of hotels in New York City, has hired Brian McSherry as its chief operating officer.

McSherry, a New Jersey resident, said in an interview he looks forward to overseeing the rapidly expanding company.

“It’s a very exciting and challenging position in that this company now, with the ownership we have, is going to grow exponentially in the next three to five years,” McSherry said.

A 32-year veteran of the hospitality industry, McSherry has overseen hotels both in New York and around the country, he said.

“It’s good to be back, and it’s good to be with a great local company,” McSherry said.

M&R president Amit Gandhi praised McSherry’s appointment in a press release.

“With the competition among hotel management companies, it’s essential that M&R become truly best in class,” Gandhi said. “Brian has the leadership skills and operating experience to achieve that goal and grow the M&R portfolio.

M&R runs three Manhattan properties, two on Staten Island as well as hotels at La Guardia and JFK airports.

Before taking the position at M&R, McSherry was regional vice president for North Carolina hotel management company Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company, according to a press release. 

McSherry will oversee the assembly of a leadership team and preside over the company’s expansion into a national business, according to the press release.
