GN man charged in park stabbing

Nassau County police have arrested a suspect in a stabbing that took place last Monday night on the Village Green.

Gerzon Hernandez, 19, of Great Neck was arraigned at 1st District Court in Hempstead Thursday and charged with assault  and possession of a dangerous weapon after allegedly stabbing the victim, possibly with a screwdriver, according to police.

A 24-year-old man was sitting underneath a gazebo in the green when he was approached by Hernandez, according to a Nassau County Police report. The men began to argue, when the suspect stabbed the victim several times with what police said could have been a screwdriver.

According to police, the suspect then fled west down Arrandale Avenue and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
