GN officials need to press county for flood relief

The Island Now

I live in the Baker Hill section of The Village of Great Neck.  Every time we have a thunderstorm, the intersection of Middle Neck Road and Old Mill Road floods and becomes impassable. Basements of adjacent buildings like Temple Beth-El, flood.

Some businesses have left the area all together increasing the number of vacant storefronts in our town.

The Nassau County Department of Public Works has plans to increase the capacity of the storm drainage in that location but, to date, has not awarded a contract.

It is time for our local village mayors and County Legislator Judi Bosworth, to unite and fight for our fair share of the county’s Public Works budget.  I hope, as a concerned community, we can get this long needed problem solved and in so doing, also put people back to work.
