We proudly want to offer our support to our friend and neighbor Jim Gounaris for Herricks School Board. His ability to be an avid supporter of our educational programs while understanding the complexity of the needs of the rest of the community is just part of the reason we support him.
Jim currently is a business owner in the food service and hospitality Industry. He operates three unique and extremely busy restaurant and cafeteria locations. That business experience is what the Herricks School District can truly benefit from. His business sense will provide our school district with new insight in to changing the way our school district is run.
In the following years, we will face very hard economic times and the ever changing financial manipulation of the New York State budget.
Who better than to have as a trustee than a successful business owner like Jim? He understands what it takes to create jobs, and the financial obligation of doing so. Jim also understands the magnitude of losing tried and trusted employees of our district. A business owner and operator can bring unique ideas to the school district that could aid in all future labor negotiations that include true open and honest dialogue with our unions. He knows that you just can’t keep taxing people more and more.
With Jim you can rely on someone that can understand the impact of poor business habits and finding unique ways to correct them and being compliant with all the financial rules and regulations that are constantly changing. You can also be assured that if it is good for Jim’s four children, it will be good for all the students in Herricks. He is always a positive force for change and change is what is needed in this extremely difficult financial time!
Some may question why we feel so motivated to support Jim Gounaris, the answer is very simple. We believe that all of us need to support the best candidate for trustee.
Should we vote for a candidate based on our heritage, race, creed or color alone, absolutely not! That is not the American way. Our civic responsibility requires us to support the best candidate to manage our school budget that is just below $100 Million.
We think the time has come for true change in how the Herricks School System is run and we can do that by voting for Jim Gounaris for Herricks School Board on May 17. We encourage all of our friends to do the same!
