Gov spending a boon to lenders

The Island Now

As I imagined it would be, the pigs are already squealing about the spending cuts.

We must allow all of the spending cuts  to go through. Those holding our debt are getting filthy wealthy and it is costing us a fortune.

The bureaucracies are probably bloated and vulgarly obese anyway. Lets see what happens. We will survive.

In light of the epidemic of Great Neck Village bus passings, all I wanted to do this week is tell my Garden City story that I have never told before.

It has been some 30 years since one morning I was leisurely driving southbound on Hilton Avenue in Garden City.

A school bus was ahead of me. The bus’s brake lights and right turn signal came on at Cedar Place so I moved to the left and continued past the bus.

Most certainly, the fin on the left side of the bus that says stop was not extended. I had only gone two to three blocks when I was pulled over. The officer informed me that I had illegally passed the school bus. He said he did not see it but the bus driver told him.

I went to the Garden City Justice Court and pleaded not guilty. I was given a date to return.

As it turned out, I had to go there three or four times. Finally, I got to relate what happened and was told that they would have to bring in the officer and the bus driver so they were going to drop the case.

For all they knew, I had a witness up my sleeve too.

Still I had to go to that stinky justice court all those times. What I still wonder about is how the bus driver could have informed the officer and he caught up to me while I drove such a short distance. Maybe they were doing it on a daily basis. Who knows?

For those driving in The Great Neck Village, I suggest that they have a camera set up and every time that they come upon a school bus, turn it on but say nothing. Then in court after the officer commits perjury, take the judge to the movies.
