The Village of Great Neck Plaza will be ending its Summer Concert Series with a performance by The McLean Avenue Band on Tuesday Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. at Firefighter’s Park.

The concert series, which began on June 16, has seen many different genres of music and world cultures brought to the stage, including Mediterranean, Caribbean, Opera, and Country.

“This year’s summer concert series has taken us all over the globe with a mix of genres and performers from different parts of the world: Latin America, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean,” Village of Great Neck Plaza Mayor Jean Celender said in a press release.

The McLean Avenue Band, known for their combinations of traditional Irish music with blends of Rock, Pop, and R & B music, have been musical mainstays in the tri-state area and have performed on stages globally.

“This week, we are closing out the series with the sounds of Irish folk music, known for its crowd-pleasing medleys and uplifting, foot-stomping music,” Celender said.

The band, whose instrumental talents include vocals, a guitar, drums, an accordion, and of course, an Irish fiddle, will be closing out the series for the second summer in a row.

“We are delighted as the McLean Avenue Band to be the finale at the summer concert series of Great Neck for the second year in a row,” lead singer Padraig Allen said. “ What’s always special about this event is that everyone gets involved from the mayor to the musicians and everyone sings along and dances the summer out on a high note.

Let the good times roll on with The McLean Avenue Band and the good people from the Village of Great Neck and their surrounding neighborhoods.”

In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be moved to the Great Neck Social Center, located at 80 Grace Ave.
