Greenvale Chase bank robbed, Police search for masked suspects

Police are searching for two suspects who robbed at a Chase Bank in Greenvale on Wednesday and have been linked to recent robberies in Garden City Park, New Hyde Park, Old Westbury and three other locations in Nassau County.

Police initially said a single suspect, described as a black or hispanic man 5’6’’ tall with a thin build, and wearing a dark hooded shirt, dark pants, gloves and a mask, entered the Chase Bank in Greenvale at 9:15 a.m. armed with a silver automatic handgun and demanded money from a teller.

The teller complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash, Nassau County Robbery Squad detectives said. The suspect then fled on foot through the north side doors in an unknown direction. 

Police said there were two customers and six employees in the bank at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.

In an alert emailed on Monday, Nassau County police said they are looking for two men suspected in seven robberies including the one in Greenvale.

The suspects were described as a black male, 6’0” tall, 30 years old,  with a medium build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask, dark pants, armed with a silver handgun, and a black male, between 6’0” and 6”3” tall, 30 years old, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

According to the release, the two men are also being investigated for robberies at a 7-11 at 635 Powells Lane in Old Westbury on Nov. 29, a Wells Fargo Bank at 137 Jackson Ave in Syosset on Dec. 2, a Wells Fargo Bank at 464 Central Ave, Cedarhurst on Dec. 6,a TD Bank at 4126 Merrick Road in Massapequa on Dec 27 in addition to the robberies in New Hyde Park and Garden City Park.

The robbery in New Hyde Park took place around 9:12 a.m. on Dec. 17, police said, when a man in his 20s showed a silver handgun at the TD Bank at 110 Hillside Ave. in New Hyde Park and demanded money.

The Garden City Park robbery took place at 9:05 a.m. Dec. 19, when police say a similar suspect brandished a silver handgun at the Wells Fargo Bank at 2499 Jericho Turnpike.

The Nassau County Police Department sent out a wanted poster on Dec. 28 searching for similar suspects involved in the seven robberies which have taken place since Nov 29.
