East Hills restaurateur has received the first union endorsement of his state Senate campaign from the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500, which represents 23,000 supermarket employees across New York.

“I am honored to be supported by the hardworking New Yorkers who make up UFCW Local 1500,” said Haber, a Democrat, who is challenging for the 7th state Senate district seat currently held by Jack Martins (R-Mineola). “As I fight to make state government work for Nassau County taxpayers, I will be glad to have UFCW 1500’s strong tradition of delivering for working people on my side.”

Haber is a trustee on the Roslyn Board of Education. He challenged Tom Suozzi for the Democratic nomination for Nassau County executive last year.

Bruce Both, the president of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1500, said, “Adam Haber is on the right side of the issues that matter most to working people, and our members will be proud to stand with him as he works to create jobs and make life more affordable for Nassau County residents. Adam Haber will fight hard to combat wage theft in his district and work to hold irresponsible employers accountable for not following the law.”
