Herricks board needs Gounaris’ biz sense

The Island Now

We believe that virtually every parent with a child in the Herricks School District recognizes the value of a fine education. The present school administration and our wonderful teachers provide our children with the best of the best, at an efficient cost.

As a result, great things await our children on the road ahead.

However, we all know that times are difficult. The Herricks school board, which plays such an integral role in district governance, will be confronted with a multitude of critical economic issues requiring careful analysis and thoughtful decisions. The makeup of the board, now more than ever, is vitally important. It is truly the guardian of our children’s futures.

Given the magnitude of the task ahead, we were very pleased with Jim Gounaris’ decision to announce his candidacy for the vacant trustee seat. We’ve known Jim personally for many years, almost as long as we’ve resided in the District. We’ve watched him tirelessly give his time and effort as a concerned parent at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. We’ve watched him advocate for his community and the students when it faced difficult problems.

We also know of his success as a businessperson, and thus, we are confident of his ability to confront and address the difficult financial issues facing this and every school district in the State of New York. We are confident that with his own children in the district, the interests of ours will be well-protected. He has shown that over the years.

Jim is an involved, caring father who believes in his community and in his school district. He brings the business acumen, dedication and work ethic necessary to shepherd the district through the difficult times ahead, and we wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy for the Trustee position. We urge you to vote for Jim Gounaris.
