Holbrook woman charged with DWI in North Hills

 A Holbrook woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated in North Hills early Sunday morning. 

Rachel Maldonado, 22, of 238 Donald Boulevard in Holbrook was operating a 2002 Nissan, traveling eastbound on the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of Searingtown Road when she was involved in a collision with a 2011 Acura, according to the state Highway Patrol Bureau. 

Highway Patrol Bureau officers responding to the accident arrested Maldonado at the scene at 5:50 a.m..

Three passengers in the Nissan suffered neck and back pain and were transported by police ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Acura also suffered neck and back pain and was treated at the scene. 

The accident temporally closed two lanes of the expressway and the Nissan was impounded.

Maldonado was charged with driving while intoxicated and was arraigned at 1st District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 5.
