Hundreds walk in Barkfest

The Island Now

The first annual Nassau Barkfest, which was held last Sunday at the Eisenhower Park dog park, saw over 500 pets participating in the parade and pet contest and 700 dogs visiting the dog park.

In addition to the costume contest and parade many rescue groups and animal friendly organizations were on site to celebrate.

“It was great to see so many pet owners enjoying our park today and participating in our first annual Nassau Barkfest parade and costume contest,” said Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano. “For many of us our pets are members of our family and this was a great way to enjoy a nice afternoon together at one of our newest dog parks.”
