The Great Neck Park District’s skate school ice theatre team, also known as Team Great Neck, was one of many teams from the Northeast/Tri-state area which participated at the Ice Skating Institute Championships in Lake Placid.
The competition took place during the Martin Luther King,Jr. holiday weekend, Jan. 14-16.
Team Great Neck was led to an exciting first-place victory in the Production Team category by coach Shannon Lenihan.
Each skater on the team also participated in a variety of individual events that put the team in an overall third place win for percentage points! The talented team includes Francesca Cillufo, Riki Cohen. Paige Crawford, Kaeleigh Romero, Mackenna Romero, Ilana Sedaka, Shirin Soleimany, Howard Zhao and Sarah Zhao.
Team Great Neck looks forward to performing again, along with the other park district teams, at the annual ice show on March 25 and the district championships on March 31 and April 1, both at Parkwood Sports Complex’s Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink.
Observers are welcome to attend and cheer the teams on!
