JCC to screen ‘A Whole Lot More’

The Island Now

The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center, in partnership with AHRC Nassau, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, will screen the documentary “A Whole Lott More” on Wednesday, April 20, at 7 p.m.

For decades Lott Industries in Ohio competed successfully for auto industry contracts, employing 1,200 workers with disabilities. With the collapse of the local auto industry in neighboring Detroit, Lott has struggled to keep its doors open. “A Whole Lott More” looks at the impact of Lott’s struggles and examines the wider world of employment options for people with disabilities.

After the screening, there will be a panel discussion on the topic “From Sheltered Workshops to Supported Employment.”

The panel moderator is Patricia Dowse, chief operating officer, New York State Rehabilitation Association.

Panel members include Paul Giordano, president of the AHRC Nassau board of directors; Maureen Knott, vice president, Henry Schein Dental; Craig Wolfson, partner at Rosicki and Rosicki law firm; and Ridgely Ochs, award-winning reporter for Newsday.

A dessert reception will follow the panel discussion.
